In a candid Facebook post, DJ Smart, the organizer of the highly anticipated peace concert in Tempane, expressed disappointment and frustration regarding the absence of two prominent artists, Young Pop and Timorhino. Despite initial excitement, their no-show left fans and DJ Smart bewildered.
FlameBwoy StarBorn, Star Gyal Bancy, and other artists delivered impressive performances, showcasing their commitment to the event. FlameBwoy, in particular, demonstrated exceptional dedication, flying from Tamale to Accra and back to entertain his fans.
However, Young Pop and Timorhino’s absence raised eyebrows. Young Pop personally contacted DJ Smart, explaining scheduling conflicts with his program in Ayanfuri and apologizing for disappointing the peace concert and SMART MEDIA UPPER EAST event for the second time.
Timorhino’s manager, Buyer Hamza, informed DJ Smart that the artist was booked for another event in Accra, honoring the late Kusaasi Chief, and couldn’t attend the peace concert.
DJ Smart clarified that no artist, including FlameBwoy, charged a performance fee. This revelation aimed to address speculation surrounding Young Pop and Timorhino’s absence.
DJ Smart concluded:
“I want to put it on record that none of the artists charged us before coming to perform…Thank you all for your patience and contribution towards the development of the Kusaug music. One thing I always believe is that your efforts may not be enough for everybody, but never give up on what you are capable of doing.”
This honest account highlights the challenges event organizers face and the importance of clear communication. DJ Smart’s dedication to promoting Kusaug music remains unwavering, inspiring others to persevere despite setbacks.
